I’d like to get some CDs of classic hymns to play around the house so Evelyn will grow up knowing the words. Does anyone know of any good options?

I have two CD’s, “Hymns Triumphant” and “Hymns Triumphant II” which are both amazing, they each have medleys of many different hymns. I got them a long time ago so I don’t know if they’re still around, but I’m sure you could find them online.

Sarah, I think I found the two albums you mentioned here. It looks like the first cd only contains excerpts. Are these the same albums?

Redeemer PCA in Austin, TX put together their own hymnal which has a bunch of classic hymns with some new tunes done by the former church musician (Leonard Peyton). I think they recorded CD’s to go along with them. When I was a member, I got the old “Taking Gathered Worship Home” CD’s (no longer used, by them). All the hymns are organized by liturgical season — which K10 and I miss tremendously!! Email K10 for more info. I’ll be grading from now until June.

She looks different, believe it or not - beautiful, but different.

I’ve been trying to think of hymn CDs but I can’t. Finding Christian music that doesn’t suck is the bane of my musical existence. There is SO MUCH chaff out there. For the last few years we’ve more or less given up and just stuck with our small collection of Rich Mullins, The CHoir, Fernando Ortega, Caedmon’s Call, and City on a Hill.

Actually, the City on a Hill compilations have a lot of beautiful hymns on them. I’d definitely buy those if you don’t already own them.

Handel’s Messiah isn’t exactly hymsn, either, but it’s a must-have. You probably have it already, I bet.

Let me know if you find any winners, ’cause I’d like to buy them, too.

Baus, sorry for holding up your response. Our spam filter is set rather tightly right now, so all the links you posted triggered it. You shouldn’t have any trouble in the future.

I read a poem today for Restoration Lit that had an Aurelia in it. Unfortunately, it was not a nice poem.

The difficulty is finding recordings in which one can actually discern the words being sung.
