Those last two him’s and her’s didn’t know what they were talking about. They should just stick to Korean ninja soccer movies. CHINESE ninja soccer movies.

Evelyn sticks her tongue out at you. Moriah and I saw it last year and loved it. We appreciated the symbolism (most of which I’ve forgotten), including the final ascent into heaven at the end.

That’s what really got me as well. I also really liked the cinematography. There were only a couple of shots that I didn’t like. One was when they were in the attic and the camera starts out at the top of a post looking down at the floor and then spirals down around the post and comes to rest above their faces as they lie sleeping. The shots near the end of the farm and the surrounding hills were really spectacular vistas. The sunset love scene was a little alien, especially with Ribisi’s terrible posture. I guess the writer, Krieslowski, did Trois Coleur as well. We haven’t seen those yet, but we plan to soon. The director says in his commentary that he was trying to emulate Krieslowski’s directing style.

That was the point, dear. Human beings are pitiful and yet still somehow beautiful. See C.S. Lewis’s Four Loves. Post a comment
