The Return of Patriarchy, by Philip Longman, in the recent issue of Foreign Policy is worth a read - if only for a snigger.

The Treasury department is dipping into civil service pension plans, again. If Social Security were less political, you know it would be getting skimmed too. Nevertheless, one day, when the Treasury really comes down to the wire, the Man will take your money too. Count on it. Bury your money.

Does anyone know of any toddler car seats (Evelyn has outgrown her infant seat) that are still able to comfortably fit into a small sedan (old four door Accord) in the rear-facing position? We have a Cosco Tourniva that is too large to sit rear-facing and to give us enough room to drive. Evelyn does meet the weight requirement on the forward-facing position, but is quite a bit young to safely ride that way.
