Ron Paul is setting another record for online fund-raising in a single day, and he might even pass HRC’s record of $6.2M in one day. What stupefies me is how much money it takes to run for President. I say we just draw lots, and then send all that money to the inner cities to buy the poor man strong drink.

Not a bad idea, but I fear that until our Imperial Presidency is ratcheted down from its present status, Ron Paul is needed. If he can bring today’s divine Presidency and Plutocratic Senate down to human measure, then your idea makes good sense. But not until our present Caesars and hereditary rulers become, once again, what we used to call our “President”and our “Congress”.

It’s definitely a shame. Such a waste. What I love about RPs fund raising numbers is how pure they are… every dollar represents a real voice, a real person, not a giant corporation. Opensecrets.org is my friend. Comparing top contributors among the “top-tier” candidates is depressing.

But isn’t the money raised to buy the poor man strong drink so that he’ll vote for you?
