Lest I forget to allow you another opportunity to wonder what in the world I think when I am at work, during yesterday’s shift I played Martin Scorcese Presents the Blues and Hormonally Yours by Shakespear’s Sister.

My flying saucer where can you be Since that sad night that you sailed away from me? My flying saucer I pray this night You will sail back before the day gets bright.

My flying saucer fly back for home! You will get lost in the universe alone! My flying saucer end all my fears Sail back tonight, love and kiss away my tears.

Le’ssee, today saw a return to eclectic picks in music to play. Actually, after I put on Kraftwerk’s Autobahn, I started picking albums somewhat randomly (I’ll call it discriminatingly randomly, though what my discriminations were, I couldn’t say - except that whenever I pulled out Prince or Judas Priest, I decided against playing them). I started my shift in the MLR with Good Dog, Bad Dog by Over the Rhine. (If it seems like I am playing them a lot, it’s because I am. I was given protection of a goodly percentage of their catalog for a time, so it’s only right that I should get to know them and spread the love. ) Since I was not feeling particularly eclectic this morning, I searched for a follow-up album that wouldn’t depart to much from the genre. I ended up choosing Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez. Right now side 1 is just finishing, and I am thinking, “Close but no cigar.” Lest I become a music snob, I will quit the comparison there.

Brahm’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 68 as performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the hands of Erich Leinsdorf

Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me

And even though I am not interested in being hip, the Music Listening Room has to keep up with the times somewhat, so I played The Raveonettes’ Whip It On.
